Dance Injury Therapy in Brighton & Hove

Expert Dance Injury Treatment | MitchinHovePark

Whether you’re training for West End auditions, rehearsing 9am–7pm for 5 days a week, or performing at elite level, your body is your most important asset. Intensive dance training pushes it further than most activities, increasing the risk of muscle strains, overuse injuries, joint tightness and performance limiting pain.
At MitchinHovePark, I specialise in supporting dancers of all levels with targeted injury therapy, rehabilitation, performance support and proactive care so you can train, rehearse and perform consistently with less pain and fewer setbacks.

Why Choose Dance Injury Therapy With Me?

With 25+ years specialising in sports injury, rehabilitation and performance and running clinic at The Brighton Academy, supporting advanced dancers in ballet, jazz, tap and commercial, I fully understand the physical demands of professional dance.

Whether you’re tackling:

lower limb pain (ankle, knee, hip), back or sacro-iliac stress from turnout and extension, shoulder strain from partnering and lifts, chronic tightness or muscle imbalance, or injury from repetitive load, my aim is to help you recover faster, move better and stay on the floor, not on the sidelines.

What Is Dance Injury Therapy?

Dance Injury Therapy combines:

✔️ Injury Diagnosis & Movement Assessment~
Looking beyond the pain to identify why an injury persists, faulty movement patterns, muscle imbalances, fatigue, and compensatory overload.

✔️ Hands-On Manual Therapy
Deep tissue techniques, joint mobilisations, soft tissue release and targeted therapy to reduce tension and restore mobility.

✔️ Practical Rehab & Conditioning
Rather than passive treatment only, you get movement based rehab designed to strengthen, stabilise and protect key muscle groups dancers rely on.

✔️ Performance Focused Strategies
From pre-class prep and load management to recovery support, everything is designed to keep you dancing — pain-free and performing at your best.

Who This Is For?

Whether you are:

  • A trainee dancer from The Brighton Academy getting intense daily training
  • A dance student performing in theatres, cruise ships or global stages
  • A recreational dancer battling recurring niggles
  • Someone returning to dance after injury

What You Can Expect

Expect a warm welcome when you visit. Expect lots of questions to allow me to understand your background and to also help me to determine where you are in the injury cycle. We'll conduct a few tests, certainly nothing to break you into a sweat but sufficient to understand your mobility. I'll evaluate, test and examine the area thoroughly and give you my very best jargon free verdict and a clear, quick and easy to follow program to support you back to performing better again. Expect hands on therapy too (time pending): I'm a huge avocate of hands on therapy. I believe that massage, manipulation and mobilisation played a fundimental role in rehabbing me back in my prime. Every treatment I provide is based on what treatment I'd like to expect if booking in for rehab. Ensuring your comfort is paramount and therefore it's important to work at a pressure or intensity that's right for you.
